Al Gore, former vice president, wowed audiences at May's Cannes Film Festival with the premiere of his documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, about the dangers of global warming. Lampooned earlier in his political career as “ozone man,” Gore has reemerged as a hero of the left whose early concern about the environment has proven prescient. He also earned the ire of the Bush administration with his speeches that challenged the execution of the war in Iraq.
