Susan B. Anthony

Born in Adams, Massachusetts, Susan Anthony was a nearly 70-year veteran in the fight for women's rights. She began organizing for equal pay as a teenage schoolteacher and in the 1850s became a national leader for woman suffrage. She lectured widely in the United States and Europe and wrote a three-volume history of the suffrage movement. The U.S. mint issued a circulating dollar coin with her image in 1979.
